It’s hard to acknowledge that DraftKings actually has a Championship with all their Million Dollar Tournaments throughout the year in all the different sports.
But they still have their Live Final and I’m kind of surprised by their Championship as well.
I’m only surprised because they name millionaires all the time, and I thought they would make their Championship stand out a little more. But they are awarding the winner a cool million just like they did last year.
The other thing that kind of disappointed me is their live final is being held in Las Vegas (which is still pretty cool) when it was held in Atlantis last year.
Just like last year, there are 80 qualifiers throughout the year that have three different price points for entry. They are $33, $300, and $1000 to enter, and the winner gets a seat valued at $55,500. The value of the seat consists of $1000 airfare credit, three nights at the Wynn casino, and of course the prize pool.
Even though the buy ins for the qualifiers seem high, you need to remember that they have multiple satellites to these qualifiers which start as little as 25 cents!
So it’s not like you need to have a big bankroll to try and get into this tournament. You can grind your way in the small satellites and earn as many tickets to the Q’s that you can to try and win.
So everyone has a chance to play!
First place is a Million Dollars, and even if you finish in last you still walk away with $10,000!
The difference between this and the other million dollar contests they have is if you can win a qualifier you have a 1 out of 80 chance of winning the million. Those odds are a lot better than 1 out of 93,000.
While I still feel like these Championships favor the big bankroll players who can afford to make hundreds of $33 teams, there is always a chance for a player to enter one team and take down a qualifier.
