Guest Post by Vanessa aka “Chic in the League” aka TxHunnyBadger
The Daily Roto was fortunate enough to get Vanessa to write a guest post for our website discussing why Ladies should play daily fantasy sports. She is an avid season-long and daily fantasy sports player who tackles football, baseball, and basketball with the best of them. If you have played on DraftKings, FanDuel, Victiv, or even FantasyUp, then I’m sure you have probably seen “TxHunnyBadger” up there in the standings and consistently winning. So here is her Guest Post without further ado.
Why Ladies Should Play Daily Fantasy Sports
If you don’t already enjoy fantasy sports, I’m going to go ahead and put it out there, “You really should!” I’m certain that at least one guy will read this article and agree he has a significant other who hates that he not only watches sports, but also competes in fantasy leagues.
You’re thinking, one more distraction right? …WRONG.
The slogan in this case isn’t, “If you can’t beat him join him” it’s “Join him and beat him at the game!” We are just as competitive in nature as they are and quite honestly a girl who can read stats, draft lineups, and win big gets 5 stars in his book. I know a few of you are thinking, “Why should I?” or “It’s just not my thing,” but I’ve got a secret for you, he will LOVE you for it!!!
Overall, this is a major opportunity for you.
Go ahead and learn the game, have fun each week, communicate with your guy, bask in your victory because you know you love winning and yes VENT indiscreetly!
Learning the Game
To a newcomer, understanding and learning the game can be challenging.
Trust me. You will learn the game!
Initially you can join yearly and daily leagues at no cost. Just join a yearly league with friends or start off with a couple of free rolls and still have the possibility of winning a prize.
In no time you will know players, teams, positions, point systems (gains and losses), and value plays. Depending on the sport, the dynamics of the game will change so don’t be afraid to do some research!
Eventually you will be ready to play for the big bucks.
Don’t be surprised when your guy asks you for player advice on his line up!
Have Fun and Play with no Risk!
For the gentlemen who have tried to at least explain the game to an uninterested party (your lady), I apologize on our behalf…
You cannot complain he’s disinterested if you are too.
Quite honestly, it’s really as much fun as he says it is and despite what you may or may not think, it takes a decent level of skill.
Every week I’m at the edge of my seat adrenaline pumping, having a blast, and fist bumping when my team just jumped into winning some cash.
Think about all the extra things you could buy or do with your earnings. Your guy may even spoil you with some of his own winnings!
Let’s talk about it!
Let’s face it when you can talk sports with your guy you find other conversations come easily and playing is actually kind of addicting…you’ll catch yourself venting about your wide receiver’s poor performance over dinner or boasting at the value pick you made over dessert.
The transition between conversations about daily life and fantasy becomes natural.
Let us also admit to ourselves that there is an undeniably sweet feeling of victory which you will literally look forward to each and every week. Whether you’re showing off your mad skills or sulking in a loss, both are acceptable.
If you are single here’s a tip to help you ladies find a man. Change your ring tone to the Monday Night Football theme song and go to a crowded bar. Have your friend call you and when guys hear that they will flock to you! Then if you can hold any sort of conversation regarding sports, you won’t be single long. FACT!
On a final note while I’ve talked some about the benefits of playing fantasy sports in relation to guys and relationships, there is the percentage of men who could care less about fantasy or sports in general.
Coming from a sports girl, all I can say is “No worries!”
I play for the love of the game and simply to “whip some tail feather while loving every minute of it.” I started as the only “chic in the league” and that trend is quickly changing.
No matter the situation, the benefit is yours for the taking. Make Sunday your Funday or any other day for that matter!
Ladies you will not regret it, so please go kick some ass and take some names!
