The definition of insanity is doing the same thing but expecting different results. This is important to remember when you start to play DFS seriously. If you are winning constantly throughout the year, year after year, then you can just ignore this series because you don’t need to change anything.
But if you are struggling, let me give you some advice that I’ve noticed through my years of playing this game that we love! I’ll try to give you something each week to help your game from my Personal Notebook.
First and foremost, you need to track everything you do!
If you are considering playing DFS professionally or even semi pro (like I am now), there are a few things you need to do first.
Keep a folder of all your transactions and understand what games you are doing well on and what games you are not.
Keep track of you profits and losses and evaluate yourself after you gain a fair sample size.
You need to understand that there will be hot streaks and cold streaks, but after its all said and done, how did you end up?
Be Honest With Yourself
This is the hardest step because it isn’t easy being honest with yourself when you aren’t doing well.
Some people just stop keeping track after a losing streak because they either don’t want to know the truth on what they lost, or they don’t want to believe that they aren’t successful.
Don’t stop keeping track then start again after you start to win again.
Don’t think it’s okay because you are winning now so those losses didn’t mean anything in the long run.
They most certainly do and are very important because you need to learn what you can do different to make those losing streaks less painful.
You can’t get frustrated because everyone is going to loose at some point.
You Are Going to Loose Many Times
I heard an ex major league baseball player who is now in radio say “every team is going to lose 60 games and win 60 games. It’s what you do with the other 42 games that makes champions.”
Since we can’t play DFS football everyday we can use the NFL as an example.
Think of all the seasons that have taken place in the NFL and how many teams went undefeated.
Every team will eventually lose and so will you! I am just being honest, and not trying to discourage you because it’s real easy to get on that high horse when you win.
But you need a level head when you lose.

Back to the Journal
I highly recommend you keep a journal of each week as you go along. It’s real easy to do with football because you can keep track of everything on Tuesday.
Being a poker player, I kept a journal every day I played so this wasn’t a difficult transition to start doing it with fantasy.
I’ll go over how you can use your notebook to adjust your game selection in the next article!
